Colorado-based aerospace technology startup Sierra Space unveiled its Dream Chaser spaceplane on February 1, 2024, at the Neil Armstrong Test Facility, which is located in Sandusky, Ohio. The Dream Chaser space plane was launched vertically and is meant for private use. It can haul cargo as well as crew members, and the company is currently putting the spacecraft through rigorous testing that includes unmanned voyages to the International Space Station to ensure it can withstand extreme environmental conditions.
Sierra Space’s Dream Chaser New Station Resupply Spacecraft for NASA
"Sierra Space is making progress on the first flight of its uncrewed cargo spaceplane, Dream Chaser, to the International Space Station (ISS), as part of NASA’s commercial resupply services. The spacecraft, designed for reuse up to 15 times, is set to launch its demonstration mission to the ISS in 2024. It includes a Shooting Star cargo module for the delivery and disposal of pressurized and unpressurized cargo. The first flight aims to deliver over 7,800 pounds of cargo, while subsequent missions could deliver up to 11,500 pounds.
