Plume, a technology firm that helps improve home WiFi and internet security as everything from coffee machines to door bells go online. Plume’s technology is in over 22 million households around the world, and the service is offered through communications service providers like Comcast.
The Palo Alto-based company has experienced rapid growth in the past year or so. Plume began 2020 with about 50 customers and added approximately 100 over the course of the year.
Today a startup called Plume — which has built a mesh-Wi-Fi platform that helps optimize broadband connectivity and then uses it to deliver a range of smarter home services to some 22 million homes globally — is announcing a major funding round of $270 million that underscores the opportunity to fix that, and more.
