Zume was founded in 2015 by Alex Garden and Julia Collins. The company has not publicly endorsed a plan to pursue an IPO. These comments should not be interpreted to mean that the company is formally pursuing or foregoing an IPO.

Zume was originally founded as a pizza company, but later transitioned to focusing on kitchen automation technology and sustainable food packaging. Zume has raised nearly $450 million in Venture Capital funding from investors including Grishin Robotics, MicroVentures, FJ Labs, Kleiner Perkins, SGH Capital, SoftBank, AME Cloud Ventures, Maveron, and SignalFire. While once valued at $4 billion, employee layoffs and technological challenges make it doubtful that this figure is still accurate.
