Hover was founded in 2011 by A.J. Altman and Ross Hangebrauck. The company has not publicly endorsed plans to participate in an IPO.
Hover is the developer of 3D modeling software for the real estate industry. Users upload smartphone photos of their home, and the app will stitch the images together to create a 3D model of the structure. Contractors, insurers, and other service providers can use these models to assess repairs, offer pricing quotes, and order necessary parts. Hover has raised more than $142 million in venture capital funding from investors including State Farm Ventures, Nationwide, Travelers, Menlo Ventures, GV, and Standard Industries. A 2020 round of Series D funding resulted in a $490 million valuation.
