Electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft manufacturing startup Volocopter is focused on getting approval to operate its eVTOL taxis in Paris, France. The German company’s CEO Dirk Hoke said Paris has some of the world’s strictest flying regulations, and gaining approval to fly its eVTOL taxis in Paris will help the company with approvals in other parts of Europe and the U.S. Volocopter plans to conduct flight tests in Paris for two years, from 2024 to 2026.
Tampa International Airport (TPA) in partnership with Volocopter, a developer of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, have successfully initiated a comprehensive flight test campaign. The flight-testing regimen involves a crewed Volocopter 2X eVTOL aircraft. This marks the first-ever flight test of an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in an operational and large international airport in the U.S., and the first eVTOL test in the state of Florida.
Volocopter, which is a private company, became the first electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVOTL) aircraft to test in Saudi Arabia through their joint venture with NEOM. NEOM has invested over $190 million with Volocopter and the test flight continues to build momentum for the $500 billion project as a mobility solution for the future.
