SambaNova Systems was founded in 2017 by Kunle Olukotun, Oyekunle Olukotun, and Rodrigo Liang. In 2022, CEO Liang stated that the company is "not in a hurry to do any kind of financing event like an IPO." These comments should not be interpreted to mean that the company is formally pursuing or foregoing an IPO.
SambaNova is working to create a more accessible AI platform for businesses. The company targets enterprises that want to integrate sophisticated AI systems into their business, yet lack the resources to develop and maintain in-house programs. The company has raised more than $1.1 billion in venture capital funding from investors including SoftBank Vision Fund, Temasek Holdings, GIC, BlackRock, Intel Capital, GV, and Walden International. Liang has confirmed that, following a $676 million funding round, SambaNova is valued at $5.1 billion.
