Indigo Agriculture (“Indigo”) was founded in 2014 as Symbiota by David Berry, Geoffrey von Maltzahn, Ignacio Martinez, and Noubar Afeyan. The company has not officially endorsed a plan to participate in an IPO.
Indigo is an ag-tech company looking to increase global crop yield and reduce carbon from the atmosphere. The company has raised nearly $850 million in Venture Capital funding from investors including FedEx, G Squared, Activant Capital, Baillie Gifford, Altitude Life Science Ventures, Olive Tree Capital, and Flagship Pioneering. Per company press releases, the company’s last primary round was in September 2018, when it raised $250 million at a post-money valuation of nearly $3.5 billion. Indigo raised an additional $175 million in equity in January 2020 at an undisclosed valuation.
