Gainsight was founded in 2009 by Jim Eberlin, Nick Mehta, and Sreedhar Peddineni. In 2020, Vista Equity Partners finalized a majority investment of the company for $1.1 billion. While Gainsight has not publicly discussed its intentions to participate in an IPO, CEO Mehta remains optimistic about the deal, saying that he believes Gainsight is "just getting started with customer success, so we wanted the right partner for the long term and we’re excited to work with Vista on the next phase of our journey.” These comments should not be interpreted to mean that the company is formally pursuing or foregoing an IPO.
