Forge Global was founded in 2014 by Andrea Lamari, Gil Silberman, Samvit Ramadurgam, and Sohail Prasad. On March 22, 2022, Forge was listed on the New York Stock Exchange following a SPAC merger with Motive Capital Corp, becoming the first publicly-traded secondary market trading platform.
Forge is a digital marketplace where users trade shares in private companies. Private equity shareholders can use the platform to connect with accredited investors and liquidate stock options through a brokered sale before their company goes public. In addition to its trading platform, Forge offers proprietary market data that allows users to trade with insight into share valuations and private market conditions. Prior to its public listing, Forge raised more than $300 million in venture capital funding from investors such as Wells Fargo, Temasek Holdings, LUN Partners Group, and Deutsche Borse. Forge was valued at approximately $2 billion at the time of its public listing.
