Databricks was founded in 2013 by Ali Ghodsi, Matei Zaharia, Reynold Xin, Ion Stoica, Patrick Wendell, Scott Shenker, and Andy Konwinski. The company has not officially endorsed a plan to participate in an IPO.
Databricks operates a big data analytics platform. The company has raised nearly $900 million in Venture Capital funding from investors including Alkeon Capital Management, BlackRock, Dragoneer Investment Group, Tiger Global Management, T. Rowe Price, Coatue Management, Microsoft, Battery Ventures, Data Collective, New Enterprise Associates, and Andreessen Horowitz. Per company press releases, Databricks last raised $400 million in October 2019 at a post-money valuation of $6.2 billion.
