Astera Labs was founded in 2017 by Casey Morrison, Jitendra Mohan, and Sanjay Gajendra. While the company had announced plans to go public in 2022, Astera Labs decided to instead hold another round of private funding. "This funding round and the significant revenue we’re bringing in allows us to control our timing," Gajendra said.
Astera Labs is a California-based "fabless" semiconductor company, meaning that while the company designs and markets semiconductor products, production is outsourced. The company's flagship "Leo" platform is designed to enable large-scale deployment of AI/ML programs. Astera Labs has raised more than $200 million in venture capital funding from investors including Fidelity Management, Sutter Hill Ventures, Intel Capital, and Atreides Management. The company announced a valuation of $3.2 billion following a $150 million funding round in 2022.
