Airtable was founded in 2012 by Howie Liu, Andrew Ofstad, and Emmett Nicholas. According to a Business Insider interview with CEO Howie Lie from March 2019, the company likely won’t be going public any time soon. These comments should not be interpreted to mean that the company is formally pursuing or foregoing an IPO.
Airtable is the developer of a cloud collaboration platform, with a product that “works like a spreadsheet but gives you the power of a database to organize anything,” per the company’s website. While financial performance figures are not available, the company states it currently has over 80,000 organizational clients. Airtable has raised $170 million in Venture Capital funding from investors including Benchmark, Thrive Capital, CRV, Caffeinated Capital, and Coatue Management. It has been widely reported that the company last raised $100 million in November 2018 at a post-money valuation of over $1 billion.
