Freshworks, formerly Freshdesk, was founded in 2010 by Girish Mathrubootham and Shan Krishnasamy. In an interview with Inc42 from July 2019, a company spokesperson stated the company would aim for an IPO “if and when a public offering proves opportune for the business.” These comments should not be interpreted to mean that the company is formally pursuing or foregoing an IPO.
Freshworks offers a variety of business software with solutions including call center management, customer messaging, sales CRM, and IT service management. The company has raised approximately $400 million in Venture Capital funding from investors including Sequoia Capital, CapitalG, Tiger Global Management, Accel, and Microsoft BizSpark. Per company press releases, Freshworks last raised $150 million in November 2019 at a post-money valuation of $3.5 billion.
