Udemy (UDMY) has filed to raise $406M in an IPO of its common stock, according to an S-1/A registration statement. The company appears well positioned with significant international operations and foreign language support to take advantage of a global shift toward online learning, so the IPO is worth a close look.
The San Francisco-based company's revenue grew 55.6% to $429.9M in 2020 from a year earlier, its filing showed. Udemy incurred a net loss of $77.6M over the same period. The company, which did not share the terms for its offering, was valued at $3.3B during a financing round in November last year. It is expected to go public at a much higher valuation.
