Starry was founded in 2016 by Chet Kanojia and Joe Lipowski. The company has not officially endorsed a plan to participate in an IPO.

Starry is a fixed wireless broadband Internet service provider using 5G fixed wireless connection. The company has raised approximately $290 million in Venture Capital funding from investors including FirstMark Capital, Soros Fund Management, Third Kind Venture Capital, Tiger Global Management, and Lauder Partners. It has been reported that the company last raised an estimated $125 million in April 2019 at a post-money valuation of just under $900 million.
