D2iQ, formerly known as Mesosphere, was founded in 2013 by Benjamin Hindman, Florian Leibert, and Tobi Knaup. When asked about a potential IPO, CEO Knaup said that while he does not have a specific exit plan, he does have a growth strategy, "because my view is that if you build a fast-growing business, all the options are on the table." These comments should not be interpreted to mean that the company is formally pursuing or foregoing an IPO.

D2iQ is a software company whose platform helps enterprises leverage the Kubernetes open-source container engine. In addition, D2iQ helps DevOps teams manage their "Day 2" operations immediately following the deployment of a new application. The company has made two acquisitions and raised $247 million in venture capital funding from investors including Koch Disruptive Technologies, T.Rowe Price, Hewlett Packard, Khosla Ventures, and Andreessen Horowitz. A 2018 Series D round raised $125 million and increased the company's valuation to $775 million.
