uShip was founded in 2004 by Matthew Chassen. While the company was looking to add a CFO in the hopes of a public offering in 2014, the company remains private as of April 2023.
uShip is an online marketplace for shipping services. Users post items that they need shipped — primarily large, heavy items such as cars or industrial equipment — and shipping providers compete to offer the lowest bid. The company has raised more than $50 million in venture capital funding from investors including Benchmark Capital, DAG Ventures, and Kleiner Perkins. uShip did not disclose valuation figures following a $25 million round of Series D funding in 2017.
