US-based fixed wireless access company, Tarana Wireless, has opened a new office in Pune, India, with plans to invest $40m in the country. The company aims to employ 200 software engineers at the site within two years and enhance its research and development operations in India.
'Fiber-only approach' to BEAD would cost over $200B, says Tarana
Tarana Wireless has suggested that a full-fiber approach to the US government's Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) program would cost over $200 billion. The company's analysis is based on data from 132 broadband projects funded by state broadband offices since 2019. Tarana and other wireless companies have been lobbying for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration to reconsider its fiber-focused rules for BEAD and make more room for technologies like fixed wireless.
Bluespan brings broadband internet to more communities with Tarana's ngFWA platform
Bluespan, a US internet service provider, is partnering with Tarana to bring broadband internet to more communities using Tarana's next-generation fixed wireless access (ngFWA) technology. The partnership will result in more than 750,000 homes across Arizona and Washington state gaining access to improved internet speeds. Bluespan has been using Tarana's G1 platform to enhance its network, overcoming previous limitations and offering speeds up to 500 Mbps.
