Several Austin-based clean tech businesses are contributing to sustainability efforts in both the hardware and digital sectors. Companies include Modernize Home Services, which connects homeowners with energy efficient products, Bractlet, which provides real-time data to help businesses save on energy bills, and Hyliion, which is seeking to reinvent the global commercial transportation market with its electrified powertrain systems. Others are developing technologies to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, collect energy donations, and promote sustainable living spaces.

Ambiq Micro Inc. has added a Neural Network Speech Enhancer to its artificial intelligence toolkit. The open-source tool, available through Ambiq's neuralSPOT Model Zoo and GitHub, can remove background noise in real time, enabling clean voice capture in noisy environments. It can be used on low-power devices, particularly useful for applications such as voice memos, voice chat and speech recognition. It is expected to be particularly beneficial in environments like noisy vehicle cabins, factories, offices and construction sites.

Ambiq has launched HeartKit, an open-source AI model built on Ambiq's AI SDK, neuralSPOT®, for real-time heart monitoring applications. The AI model analyzes ECG data to detect heart irregularities and is designed to operate on Ambiq's low-power SoC. The technology is 13 times more power-efficient than competing MCUs, according to the company. HeartKit is available for download under the BSD-3 license.
