Planet Labs (“Planet”) was founded in 2010 originally as Cosmogia by Will Marshall, Chris Boshuizen, and Robbie Schingler. The company has not officially endorsed a plan to participate in an IPO.
Planet manufactures and operates a network of satellites, which takes pictures the Earth every 24 hours providing global information in near real time. The company has raised nearly $400 million in Venture Capital funding from investors including 137 Ventures, APES Ventures, DFJ Growth, SharesPost, Aster Capital, Prelude Ventures, Lux Capital Management, AME Cloud Ventures, Data Collective, First Round Capital, and HighGear Ventures. Per company press releases, Planet last raised $168 million in February 2019 at a post-money valuation of $2.2 billion.
