Oatly was founded in 1994 by brothers Rickard and Björn Öste. According to a September 2020 report by Bloomberg, the company is considering an Initial Public Offering in the first half of 2021. These comments should not be interpreted to mean that the company is formally pursuing or foregoing an IPO.

Oatly is a producer of oat-based drinks intended to give people a healthy lifestyle. The company has raised approximately $250 million in Venture Capital funding from investors including Orkila Capital, Rabobank America, Blackstone, Oyster Bay, Verlinvest, Industrifonden, and Strand Equity. It has been widely reported that Oatly last raised $200 million in July 2020 at a post-money valuation of approximately $2 billion.
